What's the Best Time of Year to Elope in San Francisco?

San Francisco doesn't really have a "bad" season — but it does have a very specific personality, and knowing it ahead of time saves you a lot of stress (and outfit regret).

Fall (September–October) is, in my opinion, the sleeper favorite. This is when San Francisco gets its warmest, sunniest stretch of the year — locals call it "second summer" — and fog tends to burn off early, leaving golden, clear days.

Spring (March–May) brings mild temperatures and blooming color throughout the city's parks, though you'll want a layer for the mornings.

Summer (June–August), somewhat famously, is the foggiest and coolest season here — think Mark Twain's (probably apocryphal, but accurate-feeling) line about summer in San Francisco. It's beautiful in its own moody, cinematic way, but pack a coat.

Winter (November–February) is quieter and softer light-wise, with a real chance of clear, crisp days between rain — and noticeably fewer crowds at City Hall and outdoor spots.

My honest advice: dress in layers no matter the season, and if weather is a big factor for you, fall is your safest bet for warm and sunny.
