Civil ceremonies at City Hall are appointment-only, Monday through Friday, and you'll book that slot directly through the County Clerk's office, separate from your marriage license appointment. Slots do fill up, especially during peak wedding season (spring through early fall) and around popular dates like Valentine's Day, so I always tell couples: book your ceremony appointment as soon as you know your date.

If you're dreaming of a Saturday, that's possible too — but only through City Hall's private 2-hour wedding rental, which gives you exclusive use of the Grand Staircase and needs to be reserved well in advance, since weekend slots go fast.

One more thing worth knowing: City Hall stays open to the public 8am–8pm on weekdays, so even on an appointment day, you'll be sharing the space with tourists, other couples, and the general bustle of a working government building. It's part of the charm, honestly — but it's also why timing your ceremony window matters (more on that below).
